WALLED GARDENS
OF WALLINGFORD

Sunday 9 June 2024

TIME & PLACE

Sunday 9 June 2024, 13:00 – 17:30
11 Wood Street, Wallingford, Oxfordshire, OX10 0BD

WELCOME TO THE SECOND YEAR OF WALLED GARDENS OF WALLINGFORD

There are twelve gardens open this year, including three open for the first time. They are in a compact area of old Wallingford. Several are of historical or architectural interest and one is on the River Thames.

Details of the gardens and a map can be found in the top menu. We are sorry but dogs are not permitted, except assistance.

Many of the gardens are small so that you can easily see all the gardens on the day or you can pick and choose. You can dally with a glass of wine or a cup of tea with cake or have a trip on the river or enjoy the stalls. We hope you have a great day out. FIND OUT MORE >

BUY TICKETS

Tickets are £8 on the day or can be bought in advance for just £6. Note: there will be a limit on the number of tickets sold in advance. Children are free. Tickets cover entry to all the gardens but teas and boat trips are extra.

You can buy your tickets in advance at Root One Garden Centre or KP Stationers in town. You can also buy them on line through this website (there will be a small charge for this). Tickets bought through this website can be collected from 11 Wood Street, between 12:00 - 16:00 on the day.

ABOUT THE CHARITIES

All the proceeds from the day will be donated to charity.

The principal charity we are supporting is Style Acre, which is based at Howbery Park. The charity enhances the lives of people with learning disabilities and autism. One aspect of their work is Green Acre Garden Maintenance, established to provide work opportunities and training for the people the charity supports. As gardeners we know the therapeutic value of gardening.

We will also be contributing to three charities in Wallingford. The Corn Exchange is a great asset for the people of Wallingford and neighbouring villages as a theatre and cinema. It is run by volunteers but its finances have been hit in recent years by major roof works, closure for periods because of Covid 19 and potentially damaging threats from local planning applications. We are also supporting Wallingford Museum and St Mary’s Church (where major roof repairs are needed).

SPONSORS

We are very grateful to all our sponsors for their generous support

Root One Garden Centre

Our main sponsor. As well as financial support they are selling tickets for us in advance of the day of the event. They are also helping to advertise the event.

PureBoating

(Next to Wallingford Bridge) hires out electric boats to the public but has kindly provided us with a boat and skipper to enable us to operate the boat trips from Middle Wharf (garden 9).

NP Design & Print

(Hithercroft Estate) have covered all our printing needs – posters, fliers and tickets.

PC Technicians

(Unit B, The Croft) have been of great assistance to us with all our computing needs, especially designing the website and preparing the maps.
