We have shown this for each garden on the page with garden descriptions.
You will appreciate that pathways in many gardens are old, narrow and uneven, so take care, but we have done our best to be helpful to those with access problems.
We are sorry but no dogs please except for assistance dogs.
Firstly, you can buy them through this website at the tickets section of the Home page.
Alternatively, you can buy them in person at Root One Garden Centre (card only) or cash only at KP Stationers and Corn Exchange, Wallingford.
No, tickets will not be available for sale on the day. This has become necessary in order to be able to control numbers for the benefit of both visitors and owners of small gardens.
Children up to 16 are free. We welcome well-behaved children.
Entry for each person is by dedicated WGW wristbands.
These will be provided at the time of ticket purchase from Root One, KP or the Corn Exchange. Online purchasers will be issued with a QR code by email and these can be exchanged for wristbands on the day at any of the three hubs referred to at the tickets section of the Home page.
Garden owners are not permitted to allow access to their private toilets.
The most convenient public toilets are in the Cattlemarket car park (between Wood Street and New Road). There are also toilets on the west side of Waitrose (opposite the Bull Croft) and at the Riverside car park (just at the far side of Wallingford Bridge).
Gardens will open at 1pm until 5.30pm. This opening time applies even if you have collected your wristbands earlier than 1pm. You can start your visit at any time which suits you after 1pm and visit whichever gardens you like in any order.
There is no schedule for the boat trips. These will be running throughout the afternoon.
Wallingford Morris dancers will be touring round some of the larger gardens. We will try to provide more information nearer the time.
The St Leonard’s wildlife tours will take place throughout the afternoon.
You should be able to see them all as it is only about half a mile from garden 2 in Castle Street to garden 16 at St John’s Green and many of the gardens are small.
However, we suggest you take your time, stop for refreshments, browse the stalls, have a trip on the river, admire the gardens and views and meet and chat to friends. Maybe you won’t manage them all but still have an enjoyable day.
All proceeds (after deducting a limited amount for expenses) will be donated to Wallingford charities. These are referred to on the separate page. We hope to be able to give something to all of them but the allocation can only be decided after the event has closed.
